[net.micro.apple] Apple III printer interface query

knudsen@ihnss.UUCP (09/12/85)

A simple question, if you know the answer:
What is the printer interface like on an Apple III (not II)?
Something nice like RS232 serial or Centronics parallel?
Or awful like the Mac and K-mart class home computers?
My wife's church had an Apple III donated, and they need a
letter-quality printer.
I don't need printer recommendations so much as just
the lowdown on the interface. If it's something standard,
then choice of printer is unlimited; otherwise, what does Apple
charge to take one out of their museum?
Please respond to ihnp4!ihexp!knudsen. Thanks, mike k

The Pkaso/U is a nice parallel interface printer card which
works in the Apple III (or Apple II, II+, //e).

Apple/// printer interfaces are generally pretty simple.
There is a dealer program floating around called
"Drivers Aid", which has most of the popular drivers
for any peripheral on it, and it is menu driven.
I use a NEC 7700Q spinwriter, I know people using
virtually any name-brand printer. I've been hearing
very favorable commentary on the Star Geminis, Qumes,
Epsons, Necs, Brothers, etc.
