[net.micro.apple] Rockwell R65F11

throopw@rtp47.UUCP (Wayne Throop) (10/09/85)

I noted that in the October Dr.Dobbs the editorial says

"Rockwell fit a good chunk of Forth into its R65F11 chip, along with
     the 6502 instruction set."

Now, can anyone tell me

  - What is a "good chunk of Forth"? (I am interested in whether this
"good chunk" might be a better target for a compiler than regular
    old 6502 instructions.)
  - Is the "6502 instruction set" on this chip compatible enough with
the "regular" flavor to run Apple software (such as DOS, the
    monitor, Applesoft, etc)?
  - Is the chip hardware (just-plug-in) compatible with an Apple II (not
II+, IIe, IIc, or any other II-mumble... just an old, decrepit,
obsolete, antique, (mostly) unmodified Apple II.
  - Is the R65F11 the "same thing" as the 6511EAB mentioned in message
<42@noscvax.UUCP>? If so, the above questions apply to the
"6511EAB" as an alternative to the R65F11. If not, are the two
    things related at all?

If nobody knows, does anyone know a likely source to write for this
information? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
