[net.micro.apple] vt52 emulation at 300 bd.

*** REPLACE THIS LINE WITH HELPFUL ADVICE ***

Once again I seek knowledge from non-conventional sources...

I'm using AE pro 4.20, a Hayes Micromodem //e, and an apple ][+ with 64k.

When I try to use screen-based software on Unix, like vi (I realize this is
silly at 300 baud. Just take for granted I'm a clod), the apple completely
tweaks out, and leaves garbage on the screen, which vaguely resembles the
desired program.

Can anyone offer advice on how to fix this?

Here is what to do if your Apple is losing characters as an AE Pro terminal:
Enable your Micromodem to send interrupts to your Apple by installing a
jumper (as detailed in your AE Pro manual). If you want a non-hardware fix,
you can put a screen clear delay in your vt52 termcap and that will help some.
If you do not have interrupts enabled, then your modem will send signals to
your Apple that get lost in the shuffle (i.e. part of the screen-clear
sequence in the case of a vi startup), even at 300 baud.
