[net.micro.apple] Applewriter in 80 columns

sji2796@ritcv.UUCP (12/06/85)

[]

I have an Apple ][+ with a Videx Videoterm 80 column card. The card works
fine with Pascal and from BASIC with a PR#3 command, but Applewriter refuses
to acknowledge it. Applewriter is written to pick up an 80col card in slot 3.
The Applewriter manual lists many recommended cards, to be placed in slot 3,
which will give word processing in 80 columns.

You need to buy an Applewriter pre-boot disk from Videx (~$25). This is the
only easy way to run applewriter on a Videoterm (or Ultraterm).

To use the Videx card, you have to buy the Videx preboot. Applewriter works
just fine that way. (The Videx isn't one of the 80-column cards Applewriter
normally handles.)

You need a patch for the Videx card..I believe that Videx sells a pre-boot
disk for their 80 column card to allow it to work with AppleWriter...It
sells for around $20...
