[] I'm looking for some information on the compatability of some of my ][+ cards with a //e. Specifically, can I use the following cards in a //e? 1. Hayes Micromodem ][ 2. Microsoft Softcard 3. Videx Ultraterm I'm pretty sure the micromodem ][ works, and I know the ultraterm partially does, but I'm quite unsure about the softcard and am hesitant about trying it out since I think I remember hearing about some (major??) problems using it in the //e. I know Microsoft later came out with a Softcard //e, but why. Also, even though the Ultraterm works fine by itself, if you have an extended 80-column card (or equiv.) installed, can you use some of the different modes of the Ultraterm (like 80x48 or 128x32) and still be using the auxillary memory? Or do you have to use the 80-col mode on the extended card? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all. The person (dare I call him an 'engineer') who designed the original MS Softcard took quite a few liberties with the ][ and ][+ timing. The Z80 mode got fouled up do to the Softcard mis-calculating bus acceses. They came out with a fix. Same thing happened with AE (ithink) and Orbital systems (I know.) when the //e came out. For all intents and purposes, the older Hayes MM]['s shouldn't work on a //e. That's why there's a Micromodem //e.
