[net.micro.apple] Laser compatible query

Does anyone know about the Laser IIe compatible computer? What do they cost?
Where do you get them? Has anyone had any experience (good, bad) with them?
As they say, Thanks in advance...

I haven't actually seen the Laser 128 (Apple IIe compatible
clone)--but I do have an ad from Central Point Software (authors
of Copy II, etc) for the machine. They claim compatibility with
all Apple IIe programs, it comes with 128k RAM, 80 column text
display, mouse interface, a serial printer interface, a parallel
printer interface, a numeric keypad and one expansion slot all built
into one unit (whoops, I forgot it also includes a built in 5 1/4
inch disk drive). They are asking $395 plus $20 shipping and handling.

We called them the other day-they are supposed to start shipping
first week of Feb. Units should be at dealers for examination
shortly thereafter also. They make a point that it isn't just
an Apple copy, everything is designed from the ground up so there is
no legal infringement of the Apple II.

I suspect there will be shipping delays--it sounds like a hot item.

Central Point Software's address:

Central Point Software, Inc.
9700 S.W. Capitol Hwy, Suite 100
Portland, OR 97219-9990

phone 503-244-5782

The usual disclaimers, no connections other than a very satisfied
user of both Copy II plus and Copy II Mac.
