The response was overwhelmingly non-existant. Over the Xmas holiday I devoted several hours investigation to the soft-switchesindicated by my IIe Reference Manual. They did not elicit the desired responses. The manual is unclear, non-specific, and proffers no examples. Has anyone out there examined this supposed feature? Can anyone explain how to use it, either from Basic, or Machine Language level. Does anyone know if certain models of IIe might be lacking this feature? Can anyone recommend an article, text, person, which/who can supply this information? Any assistance with this problem would be greatly appreciated. G.H.A. /* End of text from uok.UUCP:net.micro.appl */ The only thing that I have come across in the area of double hi-res is through the Extended 80-Column Text Card supplement. On page 11 it reads : Two things to obtain double high-resol. diplay: - Install a jumper to connect the two Molex-type pins on the extended 80-column text card - Turn on the Annunciator 3 soft switch along with the switches that select the 80-column display and high resolution graphics. This works only on an Apple //e with the Rev B (and later) main logic board, identified by a B as the last letter of the part number on the back of the board. ... This uses the auxiliary memory in the extended to produce more 'dots' in the same manner as the 80 columns are generated. I don't know if this helped you any. I think that the only way to do this is with an 80-column extended memory card. Bye. Vincent Foster Univ. of Oklahoma
