[net.micro.apple] Apple II 80 Colums card

binder@dosadi.DEC (Dum vivimus vivamus) (03/24/86)

Sorry about that subject head, just washed my hands and can't do a thing with
them...

The best 80-column card I know of is the Applied Engineering Viewmaster-80,
which works in an Apple ][, ][+, or //e (slot 3). It is Videx compatible, but
it also has much advanced compatibility, including being (I think) the only
80-column card that supports the Applesoft HOME command. Retail price is
$139.00, from Applied Engineering, P.O. Box 798, Carrollton TX 75006.

BTW, I have a Viewmaster-80, and I am VERY satisfied with it.

Cheers,

Well, I beg to differ about what 80 column card is the best.

Please note: I'm not saying that this particular card is
the best; I'm merely saying that this card represents a
GOOD choice for an 80 column card. It might possibly be
the best 80 column card on the market.

Now that I have all of that garbage out of the way,
I'd like to put in my plug for the Videx Ultraterm. This
particular card does not only 80 column, but 132 column and
160 column. It also will do 32 lines per page, and 48 lines
per page. In fact, it has 7 or 8 (I don't remember for sure)
different modes. Oh, it also supports the home command in
Applesoft.

Cost = $expensive (~$190 I think)
