It seems that many people are curious as how to get super and subscripts with the Prowriter/Imagewriter/Apple Dot Matrix Printer (DMP) all of which are basically the same. Below is a little method I use It will not work with the Near Letter Quality Mode on a Prowriter Plus. For an explanation of the commands refer to your printer reference manual under escape sequences and special commands. Commands to get boldface, underlining, super and subscripts with a Prowriter using Appleworks: Select custom printer from the printer menu. Then... set boldface with the escape sequences begin --> Escape ! end --> Escape " set underline as: begin --> Escape X end --> Escape Y and... subscripts: begin --> Escape [ Escape T08 Control-J end --> Escape r Control-J Escape f Escape T24 Escape ] superscripts: begin --> Escape [ Escape T08 Escape r Control-J end --> Escape f Control-J Escape T24 Escape ] where I have indicated lowercase characters and uppercase characters I have done it intentionally.... Just type exactly what is there (substituting the <ESC> key for Escape and <CTRL> key for Control of course) Test it out first... I have a Prowriter Plus with NLQ (Near Letter Quality) mode and it doesn't work with NLQ mode... but it should work otherwise. If you look in your manual you can see what I have done exactly. and questions...???... just write back Peter Godwin University of Chicago U of C Computation Center uucp: ...ihnp4!gargoyle!sphinx!god3 mailnet: x9.xpg@UChicago.Mailnet bitnet: god3%sphinx@UChicago.Bitnet ARPA: x9.xpg%UChicago.Mailnet@MIT-Multics.ARPA USnail: Room 2322x 5824 S.
