[net.micro.apple] Apple BBS

spk256@uiucuxa.CSO.UIUC.EDU (12/05/85)

Hi everyone...If anyone is interested, I'm running a Bulletin Board
System in the Champaign, IL area....

It operates from 6pm-8am, is 300/1200/2400 Baud, and has a 10 megabyte
hard drive on-line, with downloads, electronic mail, 8 sub-boards
(message areas), and 9 libraries.

The download section has several areas for IBM, Apple, TI, RS/Tandy, and
Commodore...although since the download section just went up, only
IBM and Apple are well established.

217-359-4450
300/1200/2400 Baud
10 Megabytes
Six pm to Eight am

Note: I just got the Sider Hard drive from First Class Peripherals, and
it has functioned FANTASTICALLY! The new drive mechanism solves the
"grinding" noise problems, and it is quieter than my old Disk ]['s.
FCP forgot to include a manual, and I received a bad installation disk,
but the customer service number is an 800 number, and I received the
new manual and disk in one week (and half of that week was Thanksgiving
 holiday)

Great! The Champaign-Urbana Apple Users Group has tried to start a billboard
with minor success. I was afraid I'd never see one in this area! Sign me
up!

Apple users:

I am currently sysoping a BBS run on an Apple. Here is the info.

The Midnight Zone
-----------------
24hours
300bps
515/232-1117

The system is currently run on an Apple ][+ with 64k, two floppy drives
an Apple Cat ][ modem, and a Mountain Hardware CPS multifunction card (clock)
I have plans to upgrade by replacing the Apple Cat ][ with a Novation
Smart Cat 212 and a Super Serial Card, and by getting my 10 meg Corvus hard
drive fixed.
   New users are welcome.
