I work at a small software house (ca. 45 employees) developing educational software. Most of our stuff is in APPLESOFT (ugh!) and assembler, with an ampersand extension to BASIC (to do all kinds of neat stuff). We want to get away from applesoft, since its structure (or lack thereof) dons not lend itself to our working environment. We are looking for a structured language, like MODULA-2, a DOS based PASCAL (sorry.. no CP/M), C, or the like. The disadvantages to those which have been reviewed are their extremely slow compile time, ergo development time, and difficulty in adding our own machine code routines. Anybody out there who has used or knows of a structured language for the apple, please let me know i) where I can get it (eg who makes it), ii) how reliable is it? Is it suitable for SERIOUS development work? iii) how would you rate compile time, and whether you know if an accelerator card would speed compile time significantly, iv) How large a program will it support on a 64K ][+ or //e, v) Will it link routines from a user-created library? vi) What are its graphics capability? vii) will it link User-written Assembly code? viii) how much does it cost? Any reply would be greatly appreciated. - CDAFfy
