[net.micro.apple] Enhanced //e ROMs

dcc@osu-eddie.UUCP (Daniel C. Chang) (07/10/86)

C'mon guys, get your facts straight!

Sure the new //e ROMs are better at handling interrupts...for most
applications. There is one big disadvantage to the new interrupt
handler, however: it now takes many more cycles before it decides
to pass control to your routine at $3FE.

Big deal, you say? Well, it is a big deal. For an example of the
new ROMs being a problem, check _Keyboard_ (as in synthesizers)
magazines about six months ago...it had a article on how some MIDI
interface for the Apple (if my memory is working correctly) doesn't
work very well (or was it not at all?) with the new ROMs. (Side
note: I wonder how many keyboardist understood that article?)

Trying to get the facts straight, so we can prevent innocent,
young programmers from straying down the dark side of the force,
