[net.micro.apple] Access to a clock from BASIC

I need to be able to access a clock from within a basic program running on
an Apple IIe.  I can find no way to do this using the Apple Manuals I have
access to.  Is there a way to do this comparable to the TIMER function that
exists in IBM BASICA?  Please respond by mail.
