[net.micro.apple] AppleWorks and Sider: help with /hard2

moore@mit-eddie.MIT.EDU (Andrew M. Moore) (09/17/86)

I'm trying to get AppleWorks installed on my hard drive, a 10M Sider.
The /hard1 volume (this is under ProDOS) works fine, but whenever
AppleWorks tries to access /hard2 in any way, it responds with "Errors
encountered while reading..." (or something equally ugly). (/hard1 and
/hard2 are the two top directories that the Sider has under ProDOS).
This could be related to the fact that I changed the "MAIN MENU" program
a bit. My Sider was just in getting replaced -- when it came back, the
MAIN MENU program failed to run -- it gave "illegal value" and exited to
BASIC at line 900 (it tried to poke an extremely large value into
locations 67 and 70 before booting ProDOS). Not knowing which value to
ue, I tried various values untilI got something that seemed to work (240
and 112 both seem to work). All I know is that this value has to be
a multiple of 16, I'm 100% sure (don't ask...). I don't know whether or
not this had anything to do with the /hard2 problem, but if anyone
can help, please send me a note. Thanks.
