I'm posting for a friend without access to the net. If I don't make sense its cause I'm an IBM PC user, not an Apple user. My friend is also not too experienced with the PC yet, so this may be a pilot error. First -- We need help bringing up an Apple Speedscript software. I'd like to hear from anyone having the same problems or a tip as to what is wrong. The label on the disk reads: Apple Speedscript Charles Brannon & Kevin Martin ProDOS this side: Copy PRODOS to this side and boot disk DOS 3.3 other side: Boot 3.3 disk, insert this disk and enter RUN HELLO and press RETURN Copyright COMPUTE Publications, Inc. 1985. Trying to follow the directions for the first side, she gets "Unable to load ProDOS" On the second side she gets "Press any key to continue"; when she does, nothing happens. I'm taking my friend's word on this; I haven't seen it myself. I am experienced with IBM PCs, so if responses are technical, fine. Second -- Is this Apple Speedscript software OK stuff? I get suspicious of of software that doesn't provide good enough directions for a novice to get it up & running. Is this a good package for casual users, or is there something more appropriate? I'm far from being a technical expert on the Apple, but this 'problem' sounds so familiar. I could not load Newsroom. The problem was that I had not enhanced my //e, apparently it was assumed by the software writers that only enhanced machines are out here. It cost me another $70 to get my $50 program to run. Obsolescence makes the world go 'round.

[gviernes@wheeler-emh.ARPA] writes that Newsroom wouldn't run on his IIE until he had the enhancement kit installed. My wife regularly runs Newsroom on her IIE and it is definitely unenhanced. She has had the machine since Sep, 1983. Brint
