SOFTWARE for the SSC will not work on the basic //GS IF IT DIRECTLY MANIPULATES THE COMMUNICATIONS CHIP on the SSC, because the com chip in the built-in serial ports is different. However, if you put a SSC into the //GS, and disable the builtin ports, it will work, and any software which used the published commands for the SSC (see SSC manual) should still work even with the builtin ports.. 2. The AE cards that don't work are the ones for the AUXILIARY slot, i.e. the slot in the middle of the //e motherboard, right next to the power supply (in US machines, or lined up with slot 3 in European machines). This is simply because the //GS does not have that particular slot. Thus, the AE Ramworks (both models) and any //e 80-column cards will not work in the //GS. HOWEVER, AE Ramfactor cards, and any other cards compatible with the Apple 1MB expansion card, which plug into one of the normal expansion slots 1-7, should work with the //GS. ----------------------------------------------------- Wolf N.
