Please, my fellow humans, fellow Americans, let us try to be respectfull of each other. Abortion is an issue which is very emotional and very much a personal as well as a legal matter. What YOU as a person think, believe, feel, know, reason, etc., is your free will and your "right" as an individual person. No amount of logic or reasoning, or outside pressure will change what YOU believe if you truly believe it and have closed your mind to other options. This, I think, is just plain common sense. However, I'm sure someone will disagree with what I have just said, but that's THEIR right! We live in a country based on LAW. The Constitution is THE LAW OF THE LAND. The Supreme Court Decision on abortion (the right thereof) made this matter a "law of the land". We, as citizens of these United States, have the obligation to obey these laws. However, we can STILL believe what we want to or in other words, we can choose to disobey the law, we can disregard it, we can avoid it, we can try to CHANGE the law, another words we have a CHOICE other than to just blindly obey or follow the law. I am not saying that this does not create problems, it does, and that is one of the major reasons there are courts, police, lawyers, etc. Now the point is that the abortion issue will NEVER be resolved to every- ones liking; there will always be different opinions, beliefs, etc. on the subject, as long as there are different persons on this earth or in this society. What can be done, but I'm not saying that it will, is to make up appropreate laws WITH DEFINTIONS to handle the issue and DIRECT specific courses of action to be taken to handle the various situations. Of course, even if there were a group of laws to handle every type of abortion case, there still would be persons who would disagree with them. (the laws, that is) We have the "right" of "free" speech in this country, and alot of good people have died to defend this country. The price is very high to keep a nation "free", just as it is very high to keep and maintain a set of laws or rules to live by, or run a nation on. There are no real simple answers in a complex society such as ours, but we MUST have some BASIS to provide for the orderly living of persons in the society, and that BASIS is our LAWS. These words are my own thoughts, opinion, feelings, etc., on the issue of abortion in our society, if you noticed I did not give my personal belief on the "when human life begins" issue, or the "women's choice" issue or what I think of the law as it stands now, I just wanted to point out that with or with- out laws to direct courses of action, this will still remain an emotional, personal issue, and we should all try to be understanding and charitable towards each other when we discuss this subject. Thank you for reading my opinion, Lawrence J. Valluzzi
