I dont think I agree with the comment (who was it?) that the issue in abortion is really one of sex. I think it is a true moral problem. However, there is a problem, in that how you feel about recreational sex (RS) is likely to affect your opinion on the other issue. I have found this annoying when discussing abortion since it is true that most peoples abortion arguments are colored by how they feel about RS. Witness Pete's flame on my pro-abortion argument (comments insulting hedonism, etc). On the other side, I think RS is fine, and have noticed that coloring my argumentation somewhat, in that simply, I am more sympathetic to pro-abortion views. But none of this changes the fact that it is still an independent moral problem, and I think many people view it that way. I do know quite a few people who think RS is fine, but do not like abortion at all. Usually, they arent involved in RS altho they would like to be, and no doubt this makes it somewhat easier to hold the views they do. I think it is unfair to critise Moral Majority people as many "feminists" do, by saying that they are really after politcal control and dont give a hoot about "unborn babies". The weak argument given by these "feminists" (if they bother at all) usually involves some "quality of life" thing which I think is totally fallacious. It is totally clear that abortion is held to be wrong by these people on thouroughly religious grounds. They have an astonishingly simple solution to the entire thing: soul at conception, bingo! Whether or not they merely pay lip service to these religious ideals for political ends is another question, however.
