<<sigh>> here I go again. Someone mentioned that abortions should not be publicly funded because so many people are against them. Ahem. 1) Ok, now we have established that it is ok for rich people to have abortions, but not the people who need them the most. 2) In surveys taken (I will supply references, or just call up your local Naral chapter) 80% of the American people believe that that abortion is ok. The reason it appears that so many people are against abortion is that of the remaining 20%, half of them are vocal about it. Of the 80% that is pro-choice, only about 2% are vocal. Thus, ONLY if you look at it from the squeeky wheel viewpoint are so many people against abortion. 3) Why are so many people against making abortions illegal? As someone mentioned, one in 3 pregnancies ends without producing a child. Many of these are from "abortions of convenience." Thus most people's lives have been touched by either their, or someone close to theirs, need to have an abortion, and when the chips were down, there just was no reasonable alternative.
