"Well, Barb is about as much like one of the guys as you can get without being one of the guys." ...how would you react to such a statement? Do you think it would be a compliment to you? I wouldn't consider it a COMPLIMENT exactly. I would say it just showed that they knew you well enough to feel you wouldn't be offended by the joke they had made & they weren't so sure of the other woman. If it had happended to me I would have felt it was more of an insult to the other woman, rather than a compliment to me. I would probably challenge their assumption that the other woman would be shocked by the joke, by repeating it to her, if I thought it she would react well. If I knew her well enough to know she wouldn't like it, I would confirm "I don't think you want to hear it". I guess the point is, I wouldn't like to feel I was assuming the role of "one of the guys" to the extent that I would shut other women out from "our world". --Judy McMullan
