[net.women] The Recreational Sex Life of Animals

Who the **** could believe that animals don't have recreational sex?
Who is responsible for posting this obvious idiocy? Why *else* would
animals have sex? They don't know about the link between copulation
and pregnancy, people. Perhaps whoever it was meant that they only
have sex at certain times, but this is a matter of biology and
nothing else. Where do these foolish ideas come from?

I guess it is silly and paranoid to respond to this, but I cant help it.
Seeing a "re" to a message I posted and lots of flames about an agreeably
idiotic claim makes me upset.
You cant attribute such a claim to me. My Feb7 message read, in reponse
to Pete Wilson:
And the dubious assertion that no other mammals have sex for fun, but to
procreate. In fact, I bet this is exactly wrong. Ill bet most other mammals
havent figured out that sex is for procreation, and really to it to get
    their thrills.

In fact, there have been modern **human** civilisations found for which is was
not at all clear that even **they** were aware of the relation!

As far as responsibility is concerned, we should be rather careful.
I have been guilty of building a straw man before, attributing it to
someone, and attacking it, and I could have done the same dishonourable
thing again.

(This actually could be a neat discussion, but it is sure in the wrong
group. Can we even say animals have fun in sex? How far "down" do we go?
Beetles? Amoeba? (?). Something like an other minds problem for animals.
