One man said, "Women will have to go around at night with guns, shooting rapists in the genitals." One woman didn't say anything, but she hugged a lot of people.

When every woman is taught in elementary school how to defend herself (and every man is, too) then there won't be much point in attempted violence. And the whole climate of fear that is especially present in women, will be lessened or eliminated, when 99% of the population has the self-confidence to "not avoid" situations that might result in violence. It's sorta like the conservative approach to law'n order: if everyone can defend themselves then there's little need for cops and little incentive to attack someone. John Gilmore, Sun Microsystems
