#N:zinfandel:17200005:000:1023 zinfandel!joe Jul 8 08:53:00 1983 I think a foetus should be granted the rights of a human being only when it is capable of being a human being. By this I mean that a seven months old foetus can and often by circumstance does continue to live independantly of its mother, in cases of premature births. A three months old foetus does not and can not. No mother in this country is forced to raise a child. She can always put it up for adoption. If we want to consider a three month old foetus as a human being then let's not call it abortion. Let's say it's up for adoption and anybody that wants it can have it. Clearly until a foetus is not inextricably bound to the mother-to-be it is not an individual, the WOMAN is. Her rights are the only ones in question in this case. While this argument might lend support to a mother demanding cesaerian (sp?) delivery at seven months rather than supporting the child any longer this is much less likely to be a problem than the fooferah about abortions. Does that help? Love to All, Joe Weinstein
