[net.women] Supreme Court Decision on Insurance

As an exercise, I suggest that in every article concerning the
Supreme Court decision on insurance, the word "blacks" be substituted
for the word "women" and the word "whites" be substituted for the
  word "men".

I'm sure statistical studies could be (or have been) done to prove
which races live longer. However, I don't think insurance companies
would be allowed to, for instance, charge blacks more than whites for
  an equivalent insurance policy.

This may give many people a different perspective on statistical
discrimination. Remember that many social injustices have been
perpetuated because of "scientific proof" of the differences between
  races, religions, sexes, etc.
