============ * FLAME ON * ============ I HATE it when people ask "Would you vote for a woman for U. S. president?" or "Would women make better leaders than men?". Consider answering the question "Would you vote for A MAN for U. S. president?". My answer will always be "That depends on WHICH person you propose that I vote for.", and my answer would be the same for female candidates. Are some of you assuming that all women are the same? Or what? Even if Ginger Grover was joking about the ballot(*), some people take that kind of question seriously, and one should not encourage them. ============= * FLAME OFF * ============= Mary-Anne Wolf (ittvax!wolf) * For those who have yet to read Ginger's article, she offered to collect votes on whether people would vote for a women for U.S. president.

#R:ittvax:-87000:hpda:18900002:000:461 hpda!markb Jul 22 10:06:00 1983 The question is still valid if re-phrased slightly: `If the logical choice for President were a woman, would you vote for her?' The question basically asks anyone with deep rooted prejudice against women holding political office to admit their prejudice, and I doubt that will happen. But it is still a valid question to ask. I personally would not care about the sex, race, sexual preference, etc. of a candidate. Mark Bales ...!ucbvax!hpda!markb

To Mary Ann's flame about the "vote for a woman President" ballot: The question probably should have been worded, "Would you not vote for someone for President because the candidate was a woman?"
