[net.women] thomas berger's a regiment of women

i read an exceptionally interesting book recently; one of those books you
cant understand why no one has as yet made of movie of it.

its called 'a regiment of women' and is by thomas berger, author of
'neighbors' and 'little big man'.

in regiment, the societal role of men and women are reversed; men wear
dresses, makeup, are the 'weaker sex', play coy while the women wear
false mustaches and beards, shave their head to look like they are going
bald, run all the business, have affairs with their (male) secretaries, and
are the 'stronger sex'.

while reading this book, i suffered through some confusion at first, due to
the reverse roles being played. many times after i read about a certain
incident i would think, 'come on! this is ridiculous. nothing happens like
this.' of course it doesnt- to men! but many of the situations the men in
this book get into, are exactly the types of things women go through every
day!

its a book that can be read rather quickly, but the 'message' in it stays
with you for a long time.

thomas berger has received much praise for all of his books. right now,
i am reading 'little big man', another fine book for easy reading.

if anyone has read any of his other books, i would like their opinion of
them. please send your thoughts and replies via MAIL.
