If chairman becomes chairperson, policeman becomes policeperson, etc.,
would a woman become a woperson?

A friend of mine at Boeing told me of the time when the personnel manuals
were edited by a word processor to change "man" to person. There were
subsequently frequent references to personufacturing.

no no no NO! not "woperson", it contains the word "son", a male
derivative. The correct word to refer to the child bearing member
of the human race is "woperit" !!
