Reasons for women being barred from combat duty (it used to be school voting, ...) run along the lines of ensuring that there will be baby production, having a reserve labor force, and alienating us from fighting so that we can never fight you (men) back. It has nothing to do with saving women from horrid brutality. My answer to your test question is yes, women should be in combat and sorry I don't believe that this makes me a dirty misogynist. When the notion of drafting women came up in Sweden a few years ago, one of the generals said, in effect, "sure, but only in non-combat positions." At which point, an editorial writer for the major Stockholm newspaper, Dagens Nyheter, said "A fine idea. If it works, maybe we could do the same for men, too." Martin Minow decvax!minow
