I'll probably be sorry I said this, but I see no reason that any discussion that would be appropriate in a net.women.only newsgroup couldn't go on in net.women. I enjoy reading the male point of view concerning women's issues and if the problem is the need to defend a discussion then I would suggest that maybe the contributor's are a bit too defensive.... Why waste energy on arguing about our right to discuss anything? If the men want to criticize let the BOY's criticize. ricki simon

Perhaps the women should just go ahead and START discussing makeup, cramps and whatever else they wish to. Nobody will complain, since those are obviously legitimate topics for net.women. And if there is enough traffic on those topics with enough contributions from women, males who aren't interested will simply drop out.
