I would like to see a newsgroup called "net.feminists". I have nothing against CR for potential feminists, in fact, it's crucial. However, it would be nice to have a group for feminists where we don't have to be concerned with defending issues that we must constantly defend in every aspect of our daily lives. It's tiring! The gender of the feminist is irrelevant to me. In fact, net.women has helped me to realize there are a lot of male feminists out there. As for those who aren't -- do your own homework.

Regarding net.women, net.women.only, and net.feminists: There have been several statements that one use for restricted newsgroups would be that it would no longer be necessary to defend even the topics being discussed. There is no need to defend them anyway... if you post an article you think is appropriate, and someone lambastes you, ignore them. And then continue your discussion with the people interested in carrying on a reasonable and thought-provoking discussion. Note that I am not arguing against net.women.only; I think that there are valid reasons for having it. On the other hand, as a feminist myself, I like to keep abreast of many of the topics I expect would be on net.women.only. mike
