[net.women] Mailing label goofs

gordon@genrad.UUCP (Gordon Partridge) (09/02/83)

For years, I have bought shoes from the Haband company in NJ. Years ago
they sold only men's wear. At that time, somebody changed my name from
Mr. Gordon Partridge to Sr. Gordon Partridge. I sent them a little
cartoon of a foot sticking out of a door kicking a nun in her backside
and a note saying "I was kicked out of the convent for wearing Haband
shoes, so please change my name back to 'Mr.'" It worked.

Many years ago I had a friend at Yale named Joe Cyril May. He got on a
mailing list as Miss May Jo Cyril.

Another friend of mine was an officer of the IEEE, and in the course of
his duties had to be on the mailing list of every Group/Society in the
IEEE. He used a different middle initial for each mailing list. It was
a very handy way to trace what lists were sold to whom.
