Michael, I agree with much of what you say. however... yes, child-rearing is very important, but not necessarily the very most important thing you can possibly do. yes, equal pay for equal work. time off for child-raising would be very nice. Either in the form of 2-3 years off or in the form of work part-time for 4-6 years. The latter would allow you to keep up with developments at least somewhat. <<< flame on >>> Where the !$@&^% do you get off calling BMWs a bunch of TV inspired crap?? Where was TV when BMW was making the first modern sportscar in 1937? Would you rather have us drive 5000 pound, unsafe land barges from Detroit? These use more raw materials to make, they take more gas to drive, they go out-of-control before you can say "understeer", and maim or kill you when the accident happens. BMWs weigh about half of their Detroit counterparts, get quite respectable fuel economy, are designed to give the driver absolute control so as to *avoid* accidents, and are built to absorb sufficient energy upon impact that you would have a hard time killing yourself if you *tried*. They happen to be quite practical. Yes, they are slightly more expensive than Detroit's offerings (but not all *that* much), and when you compare the quality, safety, and life expectancy, they are actually a bargain in the long run. So the things happen to be fun to drive. Well EXCUSE ME! Maybe I should go back to writing in FORTRAN on punched cards, because UNIX is more fun and therefore must be illegal, immoral, or fattening. <<< flame off >>> If you want to attack materialism, fine. Just be a little more careful what examples you use next time, ok? To the net: sorry for the outburst, but stereotypes about cars and the type of people that drive them, and the *reasons* they drive them are insulting and damaging. Not everyone that drives a BMW wears Gucci loafers or owns 10% of {insert your favorite blue-chip stock}. Dave Seifert BMWCCA, Windy City Chapter ihnp4!ihuxl!seifert of course, now I fully expect to receive flames from some Gucci enthusiest. (sp) :-)
