[net.women] A rape that wasn't

sdchema!donn submitted an article (sdchema.868) to these groups titled "Heavy
Metal Rape". This was a reprint of an article from the Sep 21 issue of the LA
Times (San Diego edition). The Times article said that during a rock concert
at San Diego Stadium a 16-year-old woman "... was assaulted in a toilet stall
as more than 20 men stood by cheering and laughing."

Since that time, the following information has become available:

She wasn't raped nor was there any sexual intercourse. (San Diego Police
[paraphrased]: "There was no evidence of rape or even of sexual intercourse.")

She was very drunk (I believe the reporter said her blood-alcohol level
was .21 but that is quite high and I may have misunderstood. The same
report said that she has no memory of the incident.)

A witness interviewed on television (he appeared to be a cross between a
dirty-hippy-freak and a redneck-shit-kicker) stated that he hadn't thought she
was being raped because she was removing her clothes by herself and wasn't
making any protest. He also allowed as to how if he'd thought she was being
raped he'd have been quite pleased to stomp the guy into the floor. (Actually,
I got the impression he'd have been pleased, given much of an excuse, to stomp
almost anyone into the floor - apparently the concert was a bit boring.)
