If I remember what was discussed on the net a few months ago, the word "man" used to mean a human of any sex and the words "werman" and "woman" specified males and females, respectively. (This is where we get the word "werewolf".) If this is true, then we could try to bring back the use of "werman" (instead of having some new word such as "himan").
