Free-love advocate now
counsels women to wait

Special	to The Record
NEW YORK -- Sexual freedom champion Erica Jong now asserts that
women should withhold	sex until marriage to motivate men to be-
come better partners.

"Maybe women in the 19th century who said, `Don't give away sex
for free until your	married' had something on the ball," Jong
states in the October issue of Glamour magazine. "I can just
see my (five-year-old) daughter's generation saying, `I'm not go-
ing to give it (sex) away. I'm	going to wait	until I'm taken
care of.'"

Behind Jong's	case for virginity is a	felling	that men now have
no motivation to become	better partners. "It's	really not incum-
bent upon men to be good providers in order to get a woman. They
can get a woman anyway. They can get all the sex they	want any-
way. The man will always find somebody	else," says the	author of
the best seller, Fear Of Flying.
"Men have no trouble at all letting women support them," Jong
states. "It's almost	like a joke. I mean, we've liberated our-
selves to being	like lionesses. We have babies, we pay the
bills, we tale care of the houses, and then we treat men as if we
were courtesan and take	care of	them."
Why do so many women stay home Saturday nights? According to
Jong, "we're living in a transitional time when women are much
stronger than men. There are many strong, terrific and	there are
a lot of men who are very confused about there roles; There real-
ly is a	shortage of equal partners.
"I would like	to be able to have a very calm and settled rela-
tionship with	somebody who is really	a partner and an equal --
who either start ed an an equal	or became one in the evolution of
the evolution	of the	relationship," Jong says. "I think it is
possible."
