Humanists have been considered to be students of human nature and human progress (in particular, the study of the "nature, dignity, interests, and ideals..." of human beings, according to Webster's). I believe that the term "humanist" is often used to refer to people who promote the rights of all human beings, without descrimination. Perhaps "feminists" are those who are, in particular, promoters of women's rights, who are concerned with the nature and progress of women. Notice that this doesn't preclude a feminist from being a humanist. NOW: Is there even a word in English which corresponds to those who are promoters of men's rights, who are concerned about the nature and progress of men? [If there is no specific word, is it because this is the "default" ???] Patricia Collins hplabs
