Couldn't resist putting my "non"-cents in. In jest, I renamed the
UCSD chapter of the Society of Women Engineers the "Wenches with
Wrenches". I got a *lot* of flak for this, but the name caught on,
and is used jokingly by the women in the group. The point I am trying
to make is that you can use just about any form of address if you know
the person, and everyone is aware of the context the term is used in.
However, it is really offensive when an outsider uses this "in" term.
If unsure of the situation, I always use the most formal forms of
address, it's the safest method.
I'm thinking of donating a wrench to use instead of a gavel at the
SWE meetings. I just hope the president doesn't hit me with it!
