Ignoring the blatant nonsense Frau referring to older, unavailable women
for now (anyway), I would like to point out that 

	Madchen		means		little worm

That's the problem with ascii, no umlauts.
So try following the appropriate vowel with an e, and you get

	Fraeulein	(pronounced like froy-line)
and	Maedchen	(pronounced like maid-(you have to do the chen like
				the Germans do, but some people fake it 
				with shen))

Calling a woman a girl may be bad enough, but calling her a little worm?

Frankly, a woman with status is called Frau.  You probably wouldn't call
a professor Fraeulein, even if she was 29 and single.
And what do you mean, "desirable"?  If married women aren't desirable 
anymore, well,...
