I just turned to MTV in utter disgust with ABC's latest "television premiere" movie, Amazons. I didn't expect much but that was lower than low. WHY is it that the current trend is towards portaying strong women as the villains, and that the "heroine" was a shrieking, wimpy, incompetent and emotional weakling, clearly the ideal role-model for girls to look up to; her profession as a surgeon was a twist of the knife, since she was played as being obviously unfit even for that. I don't expect a lot from ABC. Their programmers tend to be arrogant, sexist jerks who use sado-masochistic sex to hook larger audiences. But this was just too much. Sorry, ABC, but from now on when I see a commercial on your network, I will go out of my way to avoid buying the product. Even if they managed by some miraculous plot twist to turn the Amazons into a bunch of nice little Girl Scouts, everything leading up to it would make it into sheerest hypocrisy. Disgusted, Hutch
