I recall a TV show, where an expert endrocineologist
was explaining what the various effects of the common sexual
hormones. What was most interesting was his anylisis of
Testosterone:
Males have approxamitely 100-150 times the amount of
testosterone that females do. The hormone is responsible
for many effects, including the development of male
characteristics in humans: beard growth, mussle development,
and overall growth.
Testosterone has also been shown to be the major cause of
aggressiveness in humans. In this context "agressive" does
not always mean "bad", since it is responsible for sports,
scientific rivalry, and (once upon a time) 'the hunting instinct'.
However, some children are brought up incorrectly. They are
taught to be brutality, and violence. While this has little effect
on women, it turns the emotional (chemical) aggression of some men
towards injuring others: Murder, Assault, Rape, etc.
As a solution, this fellow said the age old practice of
castration would do quite nicely, (since it would reduce the level
of testosterone in the criminal). However he did admit, that in
our present society, this would be unlikely to be followed out.
Instead, he reccomended "chemical castration", with an implant
introducing some drugs which would reduce the level of testosterone
in the criminals body (and incedently make him sterile for the
span of the treatment).

p.s. Incedently, this fellow said that testosterone and some derivatives
was the chemical cause of female amorousness (i.e. sexual excitement).
He was afraid that "chemical rape" might become common in the future
(DMOSL mixed with a chemical similar to testosterone would become the
new way of imperceptable persuasion). This "chemical rape" will be whole
different bag of tea as a crime, if it ever gets prevalent (it might not
even be considered "rape", since alchohol also is used in a like manner
today).
