I thought I'd share some of the things I found in the March issue that I found interesting. 1. An article on the tax breaks for both parent and employer in the area of in-house child care. Right now, parents can take a 20-30% credit on allowable child care costs. There are three bills in the legislature that are aimed at increasing the tax benefits.i 2. An article about a VDT operator who developed eye pains only three months after she started work on a VDT. She won more than $10,000 in disability and workman's comp payments. 3. A little clip about a slogan in Birmingham, that for 30 years had hung in foot-high letters that said "CITIES ARE WHAT MEN MAKE THEM". Council didn't wnat to spend the money to change "men" to "people", and finally someone came up with the idea to remove the N in men, and turn the M upside down. 4. An article on the "Gender Gap" written by Bella Abzug, which details 3 scenarios for the '84 elections, and how women may possibly decide the outcome of the Presidential election. 5. In a section marked "NO COMMENT" women have sent in blatantly sexist ads from other publications. One particular one was for a bank who was advertising for estate management. One of the ads lines read, "These days, almost no one is prepared to manage an estate of even modest proportions - least of all, your wife". Well, there's more, but I'd rather you buy the magazine, at least once, to check it out. At the very least, it will probably suggest some new topics for this newsgroup.
