[net.women] "M.: gentle men for gender justice"

riddle@ut-sally.UUCP (Prentiss Riddle) (03/05/84)

I have in front of me issue #11 of a publication which may be of
interest to some of the readers of these newsgroups. It is a feminist
men's magazine called "M.: gentle men for gender justice".

Centered around what it calls "the men's movement", the magazine offers
a diverse mixture of material, including sociological essays,
"confessional" pieces, poetry, book reviews, news from the National
Organization for Men, capsule histories of early male feminists, a
directory of regional men's groups, and even a column on sports. I
found an article in the current issue, "Thriving as an Outsider, Even
as an Outcast, in Smalltown America", to be particularly interesting --
its author spent six years living openly in a small town in Georgia as
a partner in a gay, racially integrated couple!

"M." is published three times a year by an editorial collective
involving men's groups scattered around the country. Subscriptions
cost $10.00 for four issues; back issues and current sample copies cost
$3.00. Checks should be made out to "Regional Young Adult Project" and
sent to the following address:

		M.
		306 N. Brooks
		Madison, WI 53715

[Many thanks to Will Doherty for the tip...]
