Hi Paul. I read your posting with interest. Let'm have it!
Socko! But you have to put up with their posturing like thinkers.

Don't get me wrong I place myself in the same bag when it comes to
thinking. Except that I KNOW I don't always make sense.

Anyway.

I wanted to let you (and all the rest of Mrs. Carlson's class) what I
am doing about what I see as a terrible problem in our society- abortion.

I am involved in setting up a Birthright here in Nashua, N.H. (now the
cat's out of the bag! They'll chalk my thoughts up to too much maple
sap). You may have heard of Birthright. It is a non-profit, non-sectarian,
non-political, non-shrill, organization of local citizen volunteers who
seek to help women with an untimely or unwanted pregnancy. Primarily this
help is in the form of aiding the woman to mobilize her own resources
and those available to her in the comminity in order to formulate a plan
of action for her and her unborn child. We represent a clear positive
alternative to abortion. We believe every woman has the right to bear
her child and every child has the right to be born.

Our services to the pregnant woman include friendship, counseling, referral
to pro-life medical and spiritual help, information as to rights and
services available in the community, and on a limited basis such material
help as infant clothes and furniture. To the community of greater Nashua
we offer a point of focus for pro-life sentiment and a very practical way
to become involved in helping members of our community.

We have shelter homes as well.

Birthright centers have been in operation throughtout the US and Canada
(see your local phone book) since 1968.

I am one of the founding members of our Birthright and I want to see
us follow through with these babies and their mothers long after they
are born. Some of the most dedicated pro-lifeers are mothers who
found someone to tell them it was alright to keep their babe and then
when they saw their baby were so glad they let her/him live.

I believe (as you can tell if you have been following this "debate")
that we ought to MAKE the abortionists say why they can kill in this
manner in a way that isn't obscured by slogans and cheap thinking.

Of course, I haven't seen any reasons yet. They're just playing the
old game "Would you kill a chinaman with the push of a button in order
to become rich?" with the fetus. They only have selfish justifications.

Hope I didn't bring you into the line of fire!

One little life is worth it all! They got me on the naughty talk to
Sophie though!

                      Ken Arndt
