!libation to the eater of first lines... There is more to Static Guard than static cling. When I have to take equipment to a demo, I take a can with me. Demonstration rooms almost invariably have rugs, and static can wreck havoc with your equipment. When you arrive, spray the area of rug around the demo area THOROUGHLY with Static Guard. This means the smell will dissapate (sic?) before people come in to see. What you now have is an instant, invisible static mat. It doesn't work as well as a static mat, but it sure helps! (flame on...!) Well, static cling exists, and anyone who thinks that the self-conciousness resulting from it has never had to walk in a binding polyester skirt that won't really let you walk because it is so firmly plastered to your legs. And anyone who thinks that Madison Avenue isn't important to a woman in the workplace is in another reality. I kind of like the way people smell by themselves--not when they reek, but when the subtle smells of people are not blasted by deoderant and perfume. But anyone who thinks that you could go into the workplace smelling (heaven forbid) like you were a clean animal, rather than something chemical or floral--and thinks that this won't be part of your image (i.e. unbusinesslike), has not lived in the business world long. And anyone who thinks that having your skirt attracting lint and crawling up your legs is not going to affect your image with a 45-year-old Harvard MBA vice-president, I say likewise. Madison Avenue is accepted as gospel by many members of that mythical entity, "THE ESTABLISHMENT." This means that how carefully you follow (or how tastefully you buck) the gods of Madison Avenue is a good instantaneous gauge of your conformism (and therefore your reliability) in the eyes of most people in the business culture. It is another way of identifying yourself as part of a group, saying you are one of them. From the furious keys of a frustrated cultural anthropologist, Shava Nerad Telematic Systems (at DEC Ed.
