Last summer I had a walk-on part in The Boston Ballet's "Don Quixote". The role was a priest, and the costume was a heavy black robe of coarse wool with sandals. The itching from the wool was almost intolerable. I couldn't wear tights because my bare feet had to show through the sandals, so between dress rehearsal and the opening night I got a long black half-slip. In the time it took to get from the dressing room to the stage, the damn thing had attached itself to my legs like saran wrap!! I could hardly walk. Yes, there is static cling. Whether or not an anti-static laundry rinse would have helped was a moot question because Rudolf Nureyev had a serious injury on opening night, the entire run was cancelled, and I had no further use for the slip.
