| GAG Me With a Censor - Arndt You Getting Carried Away With This? | I'm pretty distressed with the concept of a GAG feature, and I'm not too pleased with the suggested use of it. One of the glorious fea- tures of this net (and so many others) is the combination of democracy and the free exchange of ideas. If some don't want to even look at the ideas of certain others, it is their right to close their mind. That's what the little "n" key is for. Software to aid the closed-minded is a sad development. Judging from Mr. Arndt's return address, it would appear that he is an employee of DEC; as such, he has access to our rather impressive E-Net (the "E" is for "Easy"). If you were to put a GAG on (let's say) ...decwrl!rhea!smurf!arndt, it would be pretty easy for him to choose an alternate path through one of the 2200 machines we have on this net and hop past your gag. <FLAME ON> To be honest, I must say I'm getting pretty weary of reading heaps of abuse aimed at one person. While I have never met Mr. Arndt, I assume that he is a human being. Human beings work best when a golden rule is applied. I subscribe to this newsgroup because I believe that overcoming sexism is the most important topic there is; if this planet is to survive, we must have men and women unafraid to let their feminine and masculine (respectively and, by the way, alphabetically) halves blossom. I've found some good commentary on the issues, but I'm getting pretty sick of these tirades.
