-------------- *Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary* 14th edition, 1981, defines clitoridectomy as "excision of the clitoris" and clitoridotomy as "incision of the clitoris; female circumcision". There is no entry for clitorectomy. I have seen the latter used in several (non- medical) books and articles. I seem to recall it referred to either or both clitoridectomy and clitoridotomy, i.e. any "surgical" procedure involving the clitoris. I will try to remember to ask one of the medical types around here what the accepted usage is. As far as I'm concerned, it's all mutilation. Sherry Marts !decvax!duke!phs!sam
