When a person thinks it is her responsibility to change the world single-handedly, it is difficult to let go of that vision even for a momemnt. If she takes herself seriously, and is under malicious attack under the guise of "humor", she is certainly NOT going to reply in the same vein. "Humor" can be a very effective put-down weapon. She would not want to add fuel to the fire she is already fighting. Personally, I find feminist women have a delightful sense of humor. Pricking pomposity can be very funny, even if it can also be dangerous. Maybe you have to be trustworthy before you'll see a feminist displaying her brand of humor. (Caveat: I recognize men as feminist, too...the question, though, seems to be directed at feminist women, and was answered that way.)
