[net.women] "Woman" or "girl?"

"Woman" or "girl?"_____________________________________________________________

I really don't see what's so hard about figuring out when a girl be-
comes a woman. One hardly even needs to ask, it's so simple.
When one starts referring to a male person as a "man" instead of as a
"boy," that's the time when one should refer to a female person as a "woman."
Nothing fancy, just equal thinking.
The problem is that from the late teens and on into the 30's (40's?),
the general usage is "man" and "girl," which just doesn't cut it. Agreed,
"girl" is a monosylable, but it's not an appropriate word.
(BTW, girls become women at an earlier age than boys become men.)
