Insurance companies charge women lower premiums for auto insurance because
on the average, women have far fewer automobile accidents than men. Insurance companies also charge young men (under age 25) more than older men, which
makes them ageist as well as sexist.  Also, women pay higher premiums on life
insurance policies than men becuase on the average they live longer than
men.  The question is whether insurance companies are justified in charging
different premiums based on the average records of whichever group the
policyholder happens to belong to.
